Residence Life COVID 2021 Check-In Process!

Check-In Process and Returning to Campus

The Residence Life Team looks forward to welcoming all their student back! Move-ins this semester are between Saturday, January 9th, and Sunday, January 10th. In order to allow for adequate social distancing and to keep everyone as safe as possible, we have allotted a limited number of students to move into their sections at the same time. You will have 2 hours to move all of your belongings into your room. After your two-hour time slot, any guests (parents, family, and friends) must exit the residence hall/campus. Students are allowed up to two guests to help with move-in.

We kindly ask that as you move in with your roommates that you please sleep "feet-to-head", wear a mask when outside of your room, and wash and sanitize your hands consistently. Thank you!

Move-In Info

Residence Hall Move-In

Move In

Once you have arrived on campus, please do the following:

  1. Please inspect your room and complete this digital Room Condition Inventory Sheet (RCI). This is required in order for you to get your room key. Please be as thorough as possible to avoid being fined later in the year!
  2. Please read and digitally sign the Westmont Covenant During COVID-19.
  3. Work with your two guests to move your belongings into your room during your selected two hour time slot.
    • For the safety of our community please:
      • Dismiss your two selected move in helpers at the end of your two hour move-in period; they must then leave campus.
      • Be mindful of other students also moving in; maintain six feet of distance at all times and be sure to wear a mask during the entire move-in process (even in your room).

Get Tested

Before completing your check-in at your residence hall, you must first complete an on-campus COVID-19 test. Please be ready to show the ResLife staff evidence of your campus COVID-19 test.

Check In Sat (9th) 10:30-1:30pm, 9-7pm | Sun (10th) 9-7pm

Go to the Check-In table established by your Residence Life Hall Staff.

  • In order to receive your key the Res Life staff must see evidence that you:
    1. Completed an RCI for your room
    2. Signed the Westmont COVID Community Covenant
    3. Conducted an on-campus COVID-19 test

Expect a lot of quiet!

  1. We've staggered your arrivals in order to promote distance and safety within the ResHalls
  2. Your ResHall staff will (generally) not be walking through public areas during most move-in times, in order to give you a safe distance while you efficiently move your belongings into your room
  3. If you want to greet your good friend, please refrain from doing this in an enclosed space. Instead, move your catch-up convo outside. This is for both your safety and as a courtesy to other residents who will be moving into the halls.

Questions?

  1. For questions regarding move-in, please contact your Resident Director.

  2. For questions regarding Orientation weekend, please email orientation@westmont.edu

  3. For general questions, please email questions@westmont.edu

Check-In for Returning Students

Check-In Process!

  1. Before completing check-in at your residence hall, you must complete an on-campus COVID-19 test. Testing will take place Saturday (1/9) and Sunday (1/10) from 12-8 pm in the Murchison gym.
  2. Once you have completed your test, head to the check-in table at your residence hall to complete the check-in process.

For questions regarding check-in, please contact your Resident Director.

What to Bring (COVID edition)

The following lists will give you some guidance as you prepare for residence hall living at Westmont. If you have any questions, please contact the Housing Office at x6036.

Things to Pack  Kitchen Usage Expectations to be Aware Of
  • Personal thermometer (all students will need to be able to fill out the required daily symptom checker)
  • Beach chair or camping chair (since much of life on campus will be moved outside, it'll be handy to have a chair you can use!)

***BASICALLY NO KITCHEN SUPPLIES WILL BE PROVIDED***

  • We will ONLY be providing microwaves, toasters, blenders, stove, fridge, dish soap with sponge(s), and cleaning supplies for counters

For kitchen usage you should bring your own:

  • Pots & Pans & potholders for Cooking or Baking
  • Plates & Silverware
  • Dish Towels for Drying
  • Personal Sponges encouraged
  • Airtight Containers for Food Storage in Fridge [anything not stored in an airtight container will be thrown out]
  • Lounges cannot be used for recreational purposes outside of watching TV and or studying.
    • You might consider bringing stuff for outside recreation like discs, spike ball, bocce ball, hammocks, etc.
  • Your room furniture has been arranged so the beds are as far apart as possible. We strongly encourage you to keep it that way, especially for the first two weeks that you are back. You will have an opportunity to request bunking and lofting supplies during the second you're back and they will be distributed on a rolling basis after that.
  • It sounds a little funny, but the CDC has also strongly encouraged students to arrange themselves so that when you're sleeping, your heads are on opposite sides of the room, just to maximize the distance between you while you sleep.
  • If you are a new student you will get your ID card photo taken at the hospitality table during check in.
  • If you are a returning student and have lost or broken your ID card, just fill out the form at idcardrequest.westmont.edu to request a new one so it will be ready for you when you arrive to campus.
  • There are, of course, numerous guidelines related to preventing COVID-19 that you will also need to keep in mind, so make sure to keep on the look out for those as well.
