Masked Warrior

Protect the Mont

We're open, and we're COVID safe.

On June 15, the State of California lifted most mask requirements for vaccinated people and ended limitations on capacities for businesses and places like sports stadiums. Vaccinated people no longer need to wear masks in many public places.

Westmont may now hold classes indoors with no capacity restrictions and welcome visitors to campus for tours and other activities for prospective students. Tour groups may now enter buildings such as residence halls. Until CalOSHA releases their updated guidelines in the next few days, Westmont will require anyone attending a meeting or activity indoors with multiple participants to wear masks.

The college strongly encourages anyone not yet vaccinated to wear a mask to protect themselves. In addition, we ask people who are ill with symptoms such as a fever, cough, congestion or a sore through, to stay away from campus until they recover. The college will continue to comply with best practices identified by California, Santa Barbara County and the Center for Disease Control.

Following COVID-19 protocols helped Westmont complete an entire academic year with students living and learning on campus. We conducted 8,909 COVID-19 tests during the year with a positivity rate of 1.16% and avoided major outbreaks. Westmont was one of the few schools in California to safely offer outdoor, in-person classes.

Watch a year-end video from Jason Tavarez, director of institutional resilience, who sums up the extraordinary efforts of the Westmont community.
