Giving Pickle Tree Ornaments
Generations of Westmont students have passed beneath the towering tree on Kerrwood Lawn known affectionately as the Pickle Tree due to its endearing, informal shape. Its annual Christmas lighting became a community celebration. After years of drought, the tree was removed for safety.
Now the redwood is finding a new life as an ornament.
One of our own Westmont community members is creating the ornaments individually by hand, making each ornament unique!
In honor of Westmont College's 85th anniversary year, a special limited run of ornaments featuring Kerrwood Hall will be offered in recognition of the college's campus origins. This special ornament pays tribute to the foresight and commitment of Westmont's first visionaries, specifically Ruth Kerr.
You can celebrate the holidays with this distinctive ornament as a thank you for your gift to the Westmont Fund of $50 or more (or a monthly gift of $10 or more). The Westmont Fund provides needed financial assistance to current students of Westmont.
Thank you for supporting current students! Enjoy bringing a piece of Westmont’s history and natural beauty into your home.
Please note that these ornaments are being hand-produced throughout the month and mailed from Westmont, but we can't guarantee shipping times during the holidays.
