Research Interests: The formation of scientific communities; the history of statistics in the U.S.; internationalization of science during the Cold War.
 

Biography/Details

Professor Hunter graduated from Westmont with a degree in mathematics and earned her master’s degree and doctorate in mathematics at the University of Virginia. She has taught at Westmont since 2000 and received the Teacher of the Year Award in 2007. In 2009, she co-directed Westmont in Mexico. She enjoys watching Agatha Christie movies with her family, playing tennis, baking bread, and reading. She believes strongly in the positive effects of chocolate on mathematical cognition. She has published articles about international statistics education during the Cold War and foundations of statistics in American textbooks.
