Why Westmont?

An ever-accelerating pace of change demands a nimble workforce that can solve problems, work diligently, and contribute as part of a team.

With an 11:1 faculty ratio, students are shaped by professors who are unapologetic about a rigorous academic environment.  Combine this with our deep liberal arts emphasis and you get students who are layered in biology, psychology, and every other 'ology' on top of theology so that deeper thinking becomes second nature. That's why 92% of recent alums are employed or pursuing graduate school within six months of graduation.

Below are resources available to help you recruit Westmont students. Got questions? recruit@westmont.edu

Career Cafe

Not your typical  job fair. Career Cafe provides a venue for casual conversations where students and a select number of employers can interact on a more in-depth basis, chatting with you about your industry, and job or internship opportunities.

Career Cafes are held 5:30-7:00 pm on the first Monday of select months.  Employer reservations are on a first come, first served basis. Contact Janay Marshall (janaymarshall@westmont.edu) for details.  A $300 employer sponsorship fee includes refreshments and marketing related to each event as follows:

  • Your logo will be seen by students/alumni on:
    • Handshake’s student/alumni homepage from the date the event is booked until one month after the event, and lead directly to your website with a click.
    • promotional images on jumbo flat screens in the Dining Commons, and
    • print and other promotional collateral as produced
  • Marketing of the event can be directed to particular majors and/or class levels

Industry Specific Events

These focused events highlight a single industry. C-Level speakers speak about their industry and company in a dedicated environment with up to 60 students.

Study Break

A good way to build brand awareness . This event features study-friendly snacks and beverages and takes place during midterm and finals week.

Recruiting Table

This is a great way to get one-on-one time with students as they pass by. We can schedule your visit any weekday, 11am-2pm, free of charge upon confirmed reservation.

An internship can provide students with valuable real work experience and offer you the opportunity to shape and develop the next generation of potential employees.

While most organizations offer paid internships, some are not in a position to do so. Before making the "paid/unpaid" decision, take time to understand U.S. Department of Labor guidelines regarding unpaid internships

Students may also seek academic credit for their internship (especially in connection to unpaid internships).

We're thankful for your interest in posting an internship opportunity  through Handshake, a contemporary recruitment and career planning software that will enhance your brand and connect you directly with talented Westmont students and recent alumni. It takes just a few minutes and includes setting up an employer account and then posting your internship opportunities. Handshake is user-friendly and will enable you to manage the critical elements of your engagement with Westmont. This includes features that allow you to post internships, post events, select pre-set interview schedules, as well as search and message students. Please note that we will have to approve all events and interviews based upon room availability.

We appreciate your interest in hiring Westmont students and alum for jobs and internships. To provide the most positive experience for our job seekers, we ask that all Employers who post jobs or internships with Westmont College must adhere to a non-discrimination policy consistent with federal and state laws.

The College does not approve job or internship postings that:

  1. Require an initial investment by the student
  2. Are paid commission only.  Sales jobs must include a published base salary plus anticipated commission range.
  3. Require a student to represent a commercial enterprise on the college campus.
  4. Involve network marketing, pyramid selling, referral marketing, or Multi-level Marketing (MLM) companies
  5. Are deemed unsuitable or otherwise inappropriate for our students at the College's sole discretion.

The College also reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, or delete Employer's job posting at any time. Employers whose job or internship postings result in repeated complaints from students/alum to the College (in reference to their experience with the Employer) may be blocked from posting future jobs or have their accounts terminated at the College's sole discretion.

In compliance with a Department of Justice determination, Westmont College does not permit the use of work authorization, visa status, or citizenship data in Handshake job postings. More information can be found at Department of Justice Best Practices for Online Job Postings,  the Fair Labor Standards Act, and NACE Position Statement.

Our Launch Pad Live series creates short videos of employers and alumni who share stories on how they go where they are. It's a great way for you to talk about your professional interests and provide insights to students. These interviews typically last 15-20 minutes and will be edited to approximately 5-7 minute shorts.

Contact Paul Bradford for more information or to schedule an interview.

Thank you for your interest in hiring a Westmont student to perform work in your household. Jobs posted in the Private Party Job Board will be made available to our students. Students/alum will then contact employers if they have an interest in the opportunity.  Jobs will remain posted for 14 days or until we are otherwise notified. We ask that employers and students take the necessary precautions in light of the pandemic.
